Let us guide you
Design Tribe is an independent brand and digital design consultancy founded in Cardiff by designer and consultant Tom Tribe in 2008.
We work with organisations across Wales and the UK, bringing together brand strategy and identity, WordPress website design and development, and wider design and communications. Our experience is particularly strong across energy and renewables, the public sector, charities and not-for-profits, and life sciences.
Tom remains personally involved in every project, supported by trusted specialists where additional expertise is needed. It gives clients direct access to experienced creative thinking while allowing us to build the right team around each project.
Relationships are built on transparency and trust. Expect us to be forthright. We believe that open dialogue and integrity lay the foundation for better results and lasting relationships.
We strive to add value in unexpected ways and turn challenges into triumphs. Our work-ethic aims to not only meet your expectations but exceed them.
At the heart of Design Tribe is a spirit of collaboration that’s both flexible and attentive. We listen to you – truly listen – and then adapt our creativity to forge solutions that are not just effective but also exceptionally tailored to you.
We’re invested in your vision; sharing your passion and enthusiasm. Striving for design with impact that gets you to your objectives. We work with you not for you.
Every project is different, but the principles behind a good journey tend to be the same. We take time to understand where you are, where you need to get to and the best route between the two.
Before deciding on a direction, we need to understand where you are. We’ll get to know your organisation, audiences, objectives and existing brand or digital presence, identifying what’s working, what isn’t and where design can make the biggest difference.
Once we understand the landscape, we’ll establish a clear direction and the right route forward. Depending on the challenge, that might involve brand strategy, content structure, information architecture, UX, technical planning or simply agreeing the right priorities before creative work begins.
The details matter along the way. From typography and brand consistency to responsive layouts, accessibility, bilingual content and the way a WordPress website is structured behind the scenes, we’ll make sure the different parts work together and keep the project heading in the right direction.
A smaller team makes it easier to move quickly and stay close to the work. You’ll work directly with experienced people rather than through layers of account management, and when the journey calls for additional expertise, we’ll bring in trusted specialists while keeping the team focused and communication straightforward.
Not every project follows the route exactly as planned. New information appears, priorities change and sometimes a better path becomes clear once the work is underway. We’ll keep sight of the destination, communicate clearly and adapt the route when there’s a good reason to do so.
We believe good design should be responsible as well as effective.
That means thinking about the people who need to use what we create. Accessibility is considered throughout our digital work, and we’re experienced in designing bilingual Welsh and English brands, websites and communications where both languages need to work together from the outset.
It also means considering the wider impact of how we work. We’re members of CharityComms and Sustain Wales and have signed the Green Pledge and Equality Pledge, reflecting our commitment to more ethical, inclusive and sustainable ways of doing business.
Whether we’re developing a brand, building a WordPress website or creating communications, our aim is to produce work that’s useful, considered and made to last.
