Kenge Expeditions is an ethical adventure travel company with roots in both Cardiff and Tanzania. They organise small group expeditions and walking adventures that connect people with African landscapes, wildlife and local communities.

DESTINATION

Kenge needed a distinctive brand identity that felt authentic to their Tanzanian roots, while still working for a UK based audience. The new logo and visual language had to communicate ethical adventure, build trust with potential travellers, and be practical across digital channels, print materials and expedition collateral.

JOURNEY

We started by exploring the themes at the heart of the brand: Africa, walking, landscape and lizard. The name itself comes from Swahili, where kenge refers to a large monitor lizard, so that connection to wildlife and movement became a subtle anchor for the symbol and supporting graphics.

Rather than leaning on generic travel imagery, we focused on a small set of strong, memorable elements that could be combined into a clean, flexible identity that would work from Wales to East Africa.

All of this was captured in a concise set of brand pages so Kenge can brief future designers and keep their branding and graphic design consistent over time.

A simple icon, influenced by lizard forms and expedition route lines, sits alongside the wordmark, or be used independently at small sizes.

A warm, earthy colour palette is inspired by African landscapes, balanced with strong dark tones for contrast.

We created example layouts for social media graphics to show how the logo, type, colour and photography come together in a consistent system.

A single colour version of the Kenge Expeditions logotype keeps the mark clear and recognisable when applications get practical. The simplified lockup is perfect for embroidery and print across hats, bags and expedition equipment, where durability and legibility matter more than full colour detail.

IMPACT

The brand development work gives Kenge Expeditions a clear, recognisable visual identity that reflects their values and the nature of their trips.
