Zing Energy is a Cardiff-based renewable energy specialist helping commercial and public sector organisations across the UK reduce energy costs and carbon emissions through solar PV, battery energy storage and renewable energy solutions.
We worked closely with Zing’s in-house marketing team to transform a relatively open brief into a clearer, more professional digital presence, combining UX and information architecture with website design, WordPress development and ongoing creative support.
WHAT WE DID
DESTINATION
A professional, flexible website that better reflects Zing Energy’s expertise and ambitions, makes its renewable energy offer easier to understand and gives its in-house marketing team a strong digital platform to build on as the business grows.
THE JOURNEY
Zing came to Design Tribe with a relatively open brief and an ambition to create a stronger online presence for its growing renewable energy business.
Working collaboratively with Zing’s in-house marketing team, we helped turn that initial brief into a clear structure and user experience, considering how different audiences would navigate the website, understand Zing’s expertise and find the information most relevant to their organisation.
Zing brought its detailed knowledge of its customers, technologies and commercial objectives, while we brought our experience in UX, information architecture, website design and WordPress development. Together, we shaped a website capable of communicating a technically complex offer clearly while retaining the straightforward and approachable character of the existing Zing brand, interpreting it for screen through typography, colour, spacing and interface components.
The WordPress website can be viewed at zingenergy.uk.
Commercial renewable energy projects can involve complex decisions around energy use, site requirements, technology, return on investment and long-term sustainability objectives. The website therefore needed to do more than simply list Zing’s services.
We developed a clear information structure that helps users understand Zing’s capabilities across commercial solar PV, battery energy storage and wider renewable energy solutions, while creating straightforward routes into more detailed information and enquiry.
Clear page structures, concise content, strong visual hierarchy and calls to action help make technical information more accessible to people with different levels of knowledge and at different stages of the decision-making process.
The new website was designed and developed in WordPress, giving Zing a flexible content management system that its marketing team can manage and develop internally.
Rather than creating a rigid website around the requirements of the initial launch, we built a flexible structure that could support new services, sectors, projects and content as Zing’s business and marketing activity evolved.
Responsive design ensures the experience remains clear and consistent across desktop, tablet and mobile, while the WordPress platform, backed by our managed WordPress hosting, provides Zing with a strong foundation for its ongoing digital marketing.
The project was deliberately collaborative. Rather than working from a tightly prescribed specification, we worked directly with Zing’s Head of Marketing and in-house team to develop ideas, solve problems and shape the website as the requirements became clearer.
That approach allowed us to combine Zing’s sector knowledge with our design and digital experience, providing practical advice across UX, structure, digital design and WordPress development rather than simply delivering a predetermined set of pages.
“Tom was helpful, responsive, and easy to work with throughout. He took a pretty loose brief, understood what we were trying to achieve, and helped turn it into a professional website that gave us a strong foundation to build from.”

Zing Energy
IMPACT
The completed website gives Zing Energy a more professional and flexible digital presence from which to communicate its renewable energy expertise and support the continued growth of the business.
For its marketing team, the new WordPress website provides a platform that can continue to evolve rather than a finished product that becomes increasingly difficult to change.
For Design Tribe, the project builds on our experience supporting renewable energy businesses and projects in Cardiff, Wales and across the UK — combining sector understanding with collaborative UX, web design and WordPress development.
We help energy and renewables organisations build stronger brands, better websites and more effective digital experiences.
